Day 6
The end is drawing closer, but another mixed day of weather and hills lol.... Left Pooley Bridge along the lake (Loch as we say in Scotland) to the foot of the Kirkstone Pass, let's just say it was a good climb and better decent :)
Stopped for lunch Sedbergh which was lovely and the turn of the weather for the better, then the call was made to change the route as time was against us to get to Skipton in reasonable time which left us with a good spin along an A road to a welcoming shower then feed in a local establishment......

Going South for the summer....
Nearly that time of year again when the intrepid members of the Carbonauts (although somewhat depleted) set off again.
This year we cycle without Hindo and IT Johnny who unfortunately have personal issues that prevent them from taking part....their wives!!
So this year’s team attempting to travel from Inverness to Hathesage (somewhere nr Sheffield) are: Bob McClymont, Grant Andrews, Tony Kelly and Chris Ring ably supported by our 4th guest mother Chris Urquhart in the van. Chris will be the latest in the support drivers position, his predecessors have set a high standard, Ian McAskill, followed by Tony Kelly and last year a mix of Ian and Andy Randerson have been the key to our successful rides as without their support things may have been very different.
The estimated distance this year is approx 650 miles in 7 days and we are again riding for The Highland Hospice; to date we have raised nearly £18k in the 3 rides with all monies going directly to the charity.
Training has been varied form “lots” right through to “not a lot” and with our first day over 7,000ft of climbing it should be an interesting trip.
Looking forward to setting off on the 10th May from The Palace Hotel, Inverness and we will update the blog during our travels.
Thanks for all the support,
Carbonaut Bob
Carbonauts 4: South for the Summer
The 4th Annual Charity Cycle is starting in 8 days time.
Grant Andrews, Chris Ring, Tony Kelly and Bob McClymont will be cycling from Inverness to Sheffield starting 10th May in aid of the Highland Hospice.
The last day, they will be completing one of the 2014 Tour De France routes in reverse! It's going to be tough!
